I really appreciate all the help you gave Susan in the run up to her interviews, and know it helped give her more confidence in the way to approach answering questions.
Hear from the parents of the students we have helped land their dream jobs after graduating
My daughter graduated from university and moved to London expecting to gain a career in publishing. We had expected her to secure a position reasonably easily as she had attained a very good degree, not so. She was mostly unable to get replies to her on-line applications and employment agencies did not handle graduates. The few interviews she attended were unsuitable, e.g. commission only sales (disguised door to door sales), or customer service. It was beginning to look as if her only options were to accept a job that was unrelated to her skills or move back to Australia.
I looked on the internet to find a mentor for her and after narrowing it down to 3 options who I’d spoken to, I decided on Chris from Graduate Coach. He sounded sincere, gave me information setting out the service he offers, and backed up with names of others who were on his books. His fee wasn’t excessive and I judged I had few choices: allow my daughter to continue with her search (at that time 3 months) getting nowhere, encourage her to take a job which she isn’t passionate about and end up stuck there, or take a chance on Chris.
I am so glad I did. Straight away he personally helped Emma re-vamp her CV to more accurately demonstrate her qualifications and workplace skills, to make it stand out from the 100s of others prospective employers receive. He spent time with her testing her personal and academic achievements and goals, thus she discovered her passion lay in a different career: marketing.
Chris then provided Emma with relevant information and materials to help her prepare for her career search. He also quickly found Emma an internship, where she was able to develop marketing research techniques, and digital and presentational skills. Through his contacts Chris helped Emma secure an interview with a fantastic marketing company, he helped prepare her to demonstrate her strengths and abilities at the interview – she secured the position 3 months ago and has found the work immensely satisfying and she feels a valued member of their marketing team.
I can’t thank Chris enough, as without him it is almost certain Emma would have given up and settled for less. He stayed with her throughout her career search, only a phone call away, and met with her regularly to give encouragement and advice. Honestly, he gave more than I’d expected. Professional and caring, I would recommend him to any parent, who feels like I do, that my child has paid extensively for a good education and I want her workplace experience to reflect that.
As parents of two children leaving University, we were concerned about how they would make the transition from University life into the working world while we were pursuing Expat careers overseas. It seems that many universities provide great academic (and lifestyle) experiences but their graduates are often thrown into the working world with limited support to find their way into productive careers. This is where Chris came in…
We found Chris by chance: our eldest had been struggling to find a role through the standard “milk-round’ of graduate fairs and we felt he could benefit from a coach who could guide him through the practical aspects of CV writing, interviewing and securing his first role. I hit the web: googling everything I could find. I came across Chris Davies at www.graduatecoach.co.uk. We immediately encouraged our son and daughter to get in touch.
Chris quite quickly established a great relationship with the kids: he had the ability to translate his experience into practical advice and set a realistic plan that instantly led to greater confidence, improved understanding of their capabilities and better results in getting interviews. This very quickly led to job offers.
Chris was excellent at helping our children secure a permanent role. But he excelled at mentoring them over the next two years: always on hand to provide guidance, advice and encouragement as they navigated their first role, negotiated their first pay rises and turned their roles into rewarding careers.
It’s been a pleasure to watch our kids develop under Chris’s guidance!
My son graduated from University with a Maths degree but was unsure what direction to take for a career. He worked with Chris Davies over several sessions to produce a good quality CV and improve his interview skills. Chris also suggested some ‘forward looking’ career choices with him and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each.
We were quickly rewarded by interviews working with digital economy companies based in London. He has quickly adapted to the challenges of the job and has settled into a rewarding career and works with some great people. I can recommend working with Chris Davies as a very good investment!
My son Andrew had been unemployed for a year since leaving University and had been getting nowhere with his job applications, despite help from his university careers service and job centre advisers. The whole experience was having such a negative effect on his confidence and we couldn’t see the situation improving so we decided to find a coach to help him. I found the Graduate Coach site on the internet and was attracted by mention of internships to develop vital job skills as well as coaching on CVs, researching and interview skills.
I was nervous about using someone I had just selected from the internet, but Chris couldn’t have been more helpful by putting me in touch with many parents who had used his services. All the ones I contacted gave glowing reports so, after he and Andrew had met to have an initial discussion, we went ahead.
Chris said the first step would be to find out what Andrew was passionate about. I didn’t think that would be easy as Andrew didn’t have a clear idea of what he wanted to do but after a few chats and questionnaires, he identified the mobile phone industry as an up and coming area that Andrew could be well suited for.
I was astounded at the speed at which Chris works. Within a few days, work had started on revamping Andrew’s CV, within a couple of weeks he had arranged for Andrew to have his first telephone interview for a three-month internship and within the month Andrew had moved to London and started working for a Mobile App company. It
turned out to be an area of work and a job he loved.
Chris stayed in touch with Andrew to mentor and help him during the internship. At the end of the internship he was offered employment at the same company. The variety of work he has done in that job has given him skills we would not have believed he could gain in such a short period of time. Eighteen months on Andrew contacted Chris to get help on finding his next job and without hesitation Chris has once again been on hand to help.
My husband and I are both certain that using Chris has been the best thing we have ever done for Andrew. We have watched Andrew flourish in a career area he wouldn’t have thought of had it not been for Chris, in a job he also wouldn’t have got without Chris’s help. Chris’s concern for those he helps also does not stop at their first job as we have now seen first-hand.
We would highly recommend Chris Davies.
Chris helped my son tremendously with job search and interview technique. The interview coaching was for both face to face and telephone interviews. He was very helpful at providing input about potential companies and their various recruitment requirements and has excellent contacts within the recruitment sector. Against significant competition my son obtained a super year’s graduate internship opportunity within weeks of leaving university. Chris has also maintained contact as my son’s career develops and is readily available for advice. I have no hesitation in recommending Chris Davies at Graduate Coach. He is now a fully qualified Actuary.
