Head of Content & Media RelationsOne cold January morning, sometime during the early 1990s, I visited my local college to find out what courses they could offer to help me pursue my dream to become a writer. I was a mature student having first chosen to raise a family, so this was a big step for me. The lady at the front desk told me that I was wasting my time and would be better off doing something else.
I was to experience several further knockbacks along the journey to the career I wanted. They came in form of rejection letters, failed interviews and moments of wondering whether my prayers would ever be answered.

That was more than two decades ago, and, in spite of those early days, I am indeed happy to say that a professional editor, researcher and writer is what I am today. Over my 20-year publishing career I have held a number of fulfilling positions. I worked for a literature development agency to help support new writing talent. Following that I worked as a journalist and commissioning editor for articles, books and publications, then taught journalism to undergraduates at two London universities.
I’ve also been lucky to have been involved in lots of other really exciting stuff, like speaking at the Marie Claire International Editor’s Conference in Paris and helping many first-time authors become published. Coupled with this, I have obtained a Certificate in Coaching and speak at events on the subject of motivation and achievement.
