Alex sought out our help here at Graduate Coach shortly after completing his Business Management degree. He was an extremely hard-working and enthusiastic graduate who was determined to get a good graduate career and continuously develop his skills.
Discovering Alex’s career path
As you know, Business Management isn’t a vocational degree, and as such, there are many graduate job roles that Alex could have applied for. However, at Graduate Coach, we pride ourselves on our ability to help graduates to discover which career is right for them based on their skills and interests. Early on in our coaching sessions with Alex, we quickly realised that Alex would be well suited to a role within Digital Marketing. He had already covered some digital marketing-related modules in his Business Management degree and really enjoyed it.
Enrolling Alex on our Digital Marketing Internship programme
Once we had realised Alex’s potential to thrive in a digital marketing role, we enrolled him in our Digital internship program. The first part of the programme involved Alex completing a series of digital marketing certifications online and enhancing his foundational knowledge of the various elements of digital marketing including SEO, data analytics, social media marketing, PPC and more.
The second part of the internship programme gave Alex the opportunity to put what he had learnt into practice by completing tasks. Alex worked diligently and produced 3 search engine-optimised posts per week, conducted and presented SEO Audits, analysed web traffic reports, conducted outreach to get backlinks for the site and much more. Through completing these skills, Alex accumulated an excellent portfolio of work that demonstrated his skills and accomplishments, such as writing posts that ranked on the first page of Google.
Crafting an Outstanding CV
Equipped with a wealth of new experiences and achievements, it was now time to revamp Alex’s CV. We were able to showcase Alex’s newly acquired industry-recognised certifications and demonstrate his aptitude for a career in Digital Marketing by listing out his impressive accomplishments gained during the Digital Internship.
We then ensured that the changes we had made to transform his CV were also reflected on his LinkedIn profile.
Leveraging our industry connections
Very soon after completing his CV and sending out job applications, Alex was hired as a Digital Marketing Consultant. He worked there for several months to build up his experience and skills. During his time working at this company, we continued to mentor and coach Alex to help him to thrive in his new role. This involved providing interview coaching and helping Alex to think about his career progression.
After some time in his role, we decided it was time to move on to a new position at a different company that would offer Alex more opportunities to grow and develop. We put Alex in touch with a Digital Marketing agency that we knew well who were looking for an SEO Consultant to join their team and Alex was the perfect fit. He blew the team away in the application process and was promptly offered the job.
From SEO Consultant to Leader
In this role as an SEO consultant, he worked with clients to optimise their websites and generate more relevant traffic to their websites. After just a year in this role, Alex was promoted to Senior SEO consultant, and he now leads his own team of SEO executives.
